Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have visited in the year May 2017. We have taken a day tour from Dubrovnik (Croatia) to visit the wonderful towns of Bosnia & Herzegovina. Mostar, most famous for its Stari Most(old bridge) over the River Neretva, which was the first single span stone bridge ever built in 1566. Medjugorje, in the hills of Herzegovina became a pilgrimage site for thousands of Catholics in 1981.
Stari Most (old bridge), also known as Mostar Bridge, The Old Bridge stood for 427 years, until it was destroyed on 9 November 1993 by Croat paramilitary forces during the Croat Bosniak War. Subsequently, a project was set in motion to reconstruct it; the rebuilt bridge opened on 23 July 2004.
Pocitelj,The historic village is situated on the left bank of the river Neretva, is now UNESCO World-Heritage listed for its enchanting combination of medieval and Ottoman architecture. Pocitelj, a mix of cultures with a church and a mosque almost side by side.
